I can't believe how fast time flies. In the blink of an eye, my baby girl exploring her world, and now its time to acknowledge that my baby isn't really a baby anymore and she is a toddler officially. Almost overnight your lovely baby girl starts to walk, climb, talk, and gain that newfound attitude. Creating an area or providing a room that only belongs to her can foster her independence and build her confidence so I decided that it's the time to transition her nursery into toddler Room. How her bedroom is organized can make a big difference in her independence. I decided to decorate and organize her stuff in a way that she knows where everything goes.
A little something on the inspiration of this room is that we decided to implement Montessori and Waldorf inspired toys and practice it with her.
A Montessori inspired toddler room fosters independence and responsibility. The area is completely available to the child to explore and learn, creating a safe space to exercise independence. Montessori focuses on real-life experiences and Waldorf emphasizes the child's imagination and fantasy.
Since in the Montessori Method the furniture and storage are accessible, My baby girl can develop responsibility for her belongings by returning them to their proper places.
By creating a room that fosters responsibility, we are providing her a place to develop confidence, a place where she can be independent and responsible for accomplishes her tasks.
Here are my 5 favorite tips for transitioning to a toddler’s room
1. Make it Cozy and Comforting area
I decorated Eva's room the way that suits her personality and filled her room with items she cherishes. A fluffy pillow or her beloved stuffed animal. A warm and cozy blanket that is soft to touch is very comforting. These days her favorite animal is kitty so I got her kitty pillow and she enjoys snuggling it greatly.
2. Safe Environment
I made sure that her bedroom is safe to explore. I Utilized outlet covers, secured furniture pieces to the wall, and tuck all cords. If you can substitute plastic for natural and re-usable materials you can create a safer home.
3. Simplicity is the Key
Having a simple, and peaceful uncluttered bedroom to rest and play is very important.
Kids get overwhelmed in a chaotic room and cannot focus on their activities. Organizing everything so My baby can easily find her stuff is key. Plastic toy storage from IKEA is very helpful and beneficial to keep everything in their place and I truly Love them.
4. Neutral in color ( Earthy Tones)
The trend these days is to keep the nursery rooms gender neutral which was a bonus for us since we didn't need to paint the room But if you do have a small budget you can use wall decals and pick your favorite from the several gorgeous patterns
5. Say Good bye to Crib
Once your toddler starts to attempt to get out of the crib, it’s time to convert your crib to a toddler bed or buy a Floor bed. In my case, We bought a crib with an optional toddler rail kit, we can use that kit to replace one side with a low safety rail. This will allow our baby girl to get in and out of the bed on her own, safely.
How to Create Cozy fun Reading Nook :
Reading every day to young children can improve their communication skills and allows them to understand the meaning of language. I Incorporated books in Eva's daily life and read to her in the morning, in our car rides, at lunch time and before night sleep.
